Gua Sha
Gua Sha is performed using a soft-edged tool such as a porcelain soup spoon or specialized stone Gua Sha tools. A lubricant is first applied to the body and then a tool is used to rub gently along your skin, resulting in skin reddening or the appearance of small red dots. The markings left after Gua Sha appear painful, but it actually feels good!
Some say that Gua Sha is the best kept secret in East-Asian medicine!
Gua Sha stimulates the immune system, detoxifies the body, improves circulation, relieves chronic pain, diminishes fatigue, rebalances emotions, relaxes, and promotes clarity of the mind. Gua Sha helps alleviate the common colds, flu, bronchitis, asthma, and chronic or acute pain. It is especially effective with head, neck, shoulder, and sciatic pain, as well as for the treatment of migraines.
